Iceland has updated the information regarding the government´s program on reception of refugees in the United Nation's Handbook.

The policy in Iceland is to welcome 20–25 refugees every year, those in most need. With exception in the year 1999, the reason being the situation in Kosovo - 77 refugees arrived in the refugee program in Iceland that year.

The Icelandic Refugee Board is to make proposals to the government on an overall policy and structure for the reception of refugees, supervise the reception of refugees and give comments on individual matters as requested.
